I'm Chase, an Oracle Cloud EPM consultant based in Cincinnati. I've been working in EPM consulting for about ten years, primarily in data integration, financial consolidation and close, and planning. Before that, I spent another ten years working as a network and systems administrator.
That background still influences the way I approach problems. I like understanding how everything fits together before trying to fix one piece of it. And whenever I find myself doing the same thing over and over, my first thought is usually, "Why am I still doing this manually?"
Outside of client work, I spend quite a bit of time writing software of my own. Most of that is native macOS or command-line tooling. Python, Jython, TypeScript, JavaScript, Groovy, and PowerShell are the languages I use most, while Zig, Rust, and Swift are currently keeping me busy learning new things. Lately, I've also been spending a lot of time experimenting with agentic tooling and building MCP servers.
When I'm not working, my family gets most of my attention. I married my childhood sweetheart, and we have three kids. A good chunk of our weekends revolve around whatever the kids have going on, including my son's volleyball schedule.
I also enjoy getting out into the shop when I can. I'm a pretty amateur woodworker, although I tend to make furniture rather than small projects.
